Christmas is almost here! I don't know about you but, for me, it only seems two minutes since it was last Christmas. This is my second card using TLC products, I have one more to share on Christmas Eve and then that paper is DONE! Whoohoo! I love using up product in my stash :)

Theme - Fall

One of the best things ever invented is alpha stamps, dontcha think? I love them! Aside from my love affair with rub-ons which I do love due to the quick and easy aspect, stamps just appeal to my frugal nature. This card was a quick and easy fall card, and is published in the October - November edition of Ready Set Create.

Happy Halloween!

No theme Thursday today as it's HALLOWEEN! I love this holiday, though this year seems oddly quiet without my parents but hey ho. That means I am on candy duty tonight...

First up today is a card from the October Edition of Scrapstreet Magazine. Felt good being on the submitting side of things. As much as I love Scrapstreet and the crew it was a a weight off my shoulders not having that article, plus this means I get chance to HANG OUT at Scrapstreet rather work work work!!

Next up is a party invite. The invitation text is printed on the computer, added the rub-ons and bat after. Also made a matching envelope for it, with a smaller bat embellishment. This is featured in the Oct/Nov edition of Ready Set Create along with a few other Halloween projects I made using one heart... one mind products.


The invite was part of a party set I made, which had this little placecard, a cupcake topper, placemat and party favor bag. Can't share the party favor bag yet (soon) but here is the placecard. Too fun!

Manufacturer Monday - ohom

Another Monday and another manufacturer spotlight! One heart... one mind is the manufacturer this month, that this is the final week for them. This layout is loosely based on a Becky Higgins sketch.

The papers here are actually from the "merry merry" Christmas line. I loved that the colors in the papers mimic the colors in the photos. The background paper especially makes me think of the Elmo T-shirt!

Manufacturer Monday - ohom

This layout was done back in 2007, again features Nancy's daughter Bella. Isn't she just precious? Good job we don't live closer cos I'd be snapping pics of her ALL DAY LONG! I just thought the title "sassy lil diva" was SO Bella! And my favorite ohom paper, the dots, ah the dots!

Everything on the layout is by one heart... one mind, except the chipboard letters which are Heidi Swapp. I altered the pic and did the hybrid part (journaling and black lines) in photoshop. I LOVE the ohom sheer ribbon.

Tutorial Tues - train photo frame

I did a step by step project similar to this last month, but I've had to remove that for publication *smile* so here is something along the same lines, but IMO cuter! lol.

Materials:

• Wooden Frame - Dollartree
• Acrylic Paint - MM
  
• patterned paper - one heart... one mind
  
• cardstock - DCWV
  
• acrylic shapes - one heart... one mind
  
• Strong adhesive - UHU: twist & glue; Creativ adhesive;
  
• Pencil
• sanding block
• scissors/craft knife
  

Step 1. As always with any wooden item, sand down the project first to ensure there are no rough edges, then paint with acrylic paint. On this frame I painted the edges and the back, but left the front as I'd be applying paper to it (saves paint and time).

Step 2. Lay shape over patterned paper and trace with pencil. Repeat for both pieces. Cut out shapes and adhere to wood using twist & glue.

Step 3. Once the adhesive is dry, cut out the frame part of the wood with a craft knife. It's important that the adhesive be dry otherwise you risk tearing and bunching the paper. Trim around all the slotted openings. For a nice finished edge sand all the edges.

Step 4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 for the blue cardstock portions of the frame.

Step 5. Apply glue to acrylic pieces and adhere to project. Insert photo in frame, or if a gift apply rub on sentiment to frame.

I am LOVING the acrylics from one heart... one mind. The swirl adds a nice 'smokey' touch and I'm not sure it comes out well on the photo but the "drivers" window is also an acrylic shape (rounded rectangle with window cut out). The acrylic piece on the wheels really adds a great touch I think! Love that!


To adhere the acrylic swirl for the "smoke", I used UHU Creativ glue. It's VERY sticky and I'd had good results with foam before so I figured why not try it? I didn't think I had anything else that would work so it was an experiment! Dabbed a small dot on the top of the chimney stack and the side of the train, and held it temporarily in place for a few seconds. It stuck no problem! Plus the glue dries clear so you can't tell its there!

The paper lines here are actually from their Xmas line. Remember to think outside the box when it comes to themed papers. Especially the papers that aren't necessarily themed, like these dots and stripes papers.

Sharing: blow out the candles card

I made this card back in April, and I have to say its one of my very favorites EVER! Love the bright bazzill with the poppin' colors! Just screams spring/summer fun!

sharing: best wishes card

Made a few cards recently for one heart... one mind. This one is a little different for me than usual in that it uses a pre-made card base and envelope. I just added the patterned papers and accents, and naturally I added an envelope liner to jazz that up a little

Edit: Yep Amanda Ann, its one of those Rob & Bob gel frames, by Provocraft. Love those things. They are a little on the heavy and lumpy side for cards so you'll need to add a little extra postage. But they do look cool on a card!

Theme Thursday - Congrats!!!

card - got spots?

While I was ill with flu etc I realized one of the cards I don't do that often is get well soon type cards. So I did a couple, and this one I thought was kinda funny. I do love dots and dotted papers especially, so the sentiment was kinda apt. Would be good for those suffering with measles, or chicken pox etc.

spring in bloom OHOM

Feeling very much like Spring here in Southern California. The weather is very changeable. Had some BEAUTIFUL sunny days, then yesterday an overcast "doesn't know what to do" kind of day, with a chilly night. We tried opening the pool last week to find that the filter wasn't working efficiently. So after saying for 2 years we were going to replace the DE filter for a cartridge filter we did. Bob plumbed it in last weekend and I spent time every day cleaning the filter (so much easier with a cartridge filter!), maintaining the shock level and brushing the sides. Happy to report it's almost sparkling clean today! Not that it's warm enough to swim in yet, but soon probably! Here is a card I made to celebrate the Spring weather...

I'm also on a gardening kick lately. Joined Freecycle and got some gardening books that one lady was giving away (loving freecycle btw, great idea!). Since then I've been totally inspired and hope to get back out there this week and get some weeding done. I am looking forward to Summer this year, not really sure why as my allergies have started already and generally I am so not ready for the 100+ degree weather. I guess after a month of feeling yukky with flu, my burnt hand and now allergies I just want to move forward.

Sharing: gift set

Yay, my Mum is back online! Darn computers. I managed to take pics of my hand yesterday, but I had the burn gel on so just got the reflection off the gel *sigh*. Took some pics again first thing this morning, and hopefully they turned out ok. Good news is I CAN still type, and do digital designing so just been playing on the PC. Working on some things for ACOT and digital stuff in general.

Made this last year, and if you were at CHA it was on display in the ohom booth. Just something a little different for me, and I totally loved doing it!

The tin was an old cookie tin we'd had laying around for ages, painted with Krylon paints. Did these projects as I was switching rooms back in Sept/Oct last year. Definitely a time of change then!

Monthly Theme: Birthday Gift Set

Another Theme Thursday this March, which is all about BIRTHDAYS! Whether you're doing cards, gift cards, gift bags, as long as it's birthday themed, that's what we're all about this month! This week, lets double the challenge with a Color Combo Challenge: Black, white and PINK! Whether its soft subtle pinks or the hot pinks like the ones I did below, lets get girly!

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Papers, ribbon, Brads, rub-ons all by one heart... one mind; Sizzix flower die; Fun Foam; Ink: Clearsnap;

The flowers on this set were die cut from fun foam using a sizzix die, love foam for some extra texture and dimension. To adhere the foam I used the foam glue from UHU which I hope to get round to doing a full review with soon.

St Patricks day

One thing that always makes me smile is the way the Americans thoroughly embrace St Patrick's day. I'm not really sure why, not THAT many of them have Irish decent surely! Any reason to celebrate is good enough I guess? lol! St Patrick's day here in the US is pretty much celebrated to the full, like Valentines day. There are party hats, glasses, gifts, shamrocks EVERYWHERE, and green is the theme for the day! So thought I'd share this St Patrick's day card today

Today is a special day!

Today is the birthday of one of my card sketch team!

But a very special member of my team....

Today is my Mothers birthday! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM! Not gonna say how old she is, 'cos she'd probably kill me, lol. But she is 20 years older than me :)

And for the cardmakers out there, here is a card I made recently for one heart... one mind. Still totally in love with the Sassy line! As you can see this was right in my scallop phase. Honestly I don't think I'm going to grow out of that one!

Sharing: Mothers day cards

I know my American readers (and other countries) will be reading todays blog post, frantically checking their calendars and then thinking I've totally lost the plot, but today IS Mothers Day... in the UK. And so I celebrate! Not sure if many of my newer blog readers know, but yes I am British. Been living in America for 7 years, but born and raised in Derby. Our family still lives there, so I have to send cards etc on the British Mother's Day. So yeah, basically HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MUM! You all know she reads the blog (and is on the card sketch team) so had to send a shout out to my Mum! I don't share a whole lot of personal stuff on the blog but she's been going through some tough times lately with health issues, and I just want her to know I love her, and think about her often, even though I'm miles away.

So anyway, I figure I'd share some Mothers day cards today! This one is pretty basic, and was one of those done in a "my creative mojo left me and I gotta work through it" phases back in late 2007. Also as you can tell, in my bling phase.
