Card Sketch April #3

Continuing my theme of using my published cards as a starting point for sketches here is one from 2008, published in a stamping magazine. The design is very basic but could be fussed up with stamping, embossing etc. That is the great thing about sketches, they can be used as is, or as a starting point for more elaborate projects!

I figured I'd share the published card the sketch was based on. This one uses cardstock and stamps, taking full advantage of not using patterned paper, but making my own with stamps :) Love the stamp sets by Fiskars great mix of backgrounders and sentiment stamps in their packages!

Manufacturer Challenge - Doodlebug (2)

One thing that I love about doing a manufacturer spotlight is it forces me to use products. I mentioned on Friday that I am a sucker for patterned paper and that fact is easily compounded if the paper it polka dots or small florals. I just love this paper by Doodlebug but it sat and sat in my stash for *ahem* years! Don't know why, just never used it, but having the Monday Manufacturer spotlight means USING the papers, USING the embellishments and basically USING stash! I made a card with this paper last week but naturally a 12x12 sheet can make so much more than one card! So here are a few more!

All the cards today are based on my sketches sketches. I'm really enjoying working from Sketches again lately. Whether cards or layouts sketches really make projects come together fast!

Happy Easter!

Wow how did it get to April already! That's a quarter of the year gone, and here we are at Easter! Time sure is flying by! This week I thought I'd share a couple of Easter projects published in Ready Set Create Magazine (Feb/Mar 2009 issue). The Boxer Calendar papers are just awesome for seasonal projects like this treat container, and card!

Using Your Stash!

As I've been rearranging my scrapbook room I've been thinking a lot lately about the amount of scrapbook supplies I have here just sitting around. I think a scrapbookers stash falls into a couple of categories:

1. Stuff we'll always love and use
   
2. Stuff we love but don't use
3. Stuff we bought when we first started scrapping and no longer love

The problem lies in the fact that if we don't USE the supplies in category 2 then they eventually end up in category 3. I personally have had that happen to many many supplies I've bought in the past as I am sure everyone has! When I initially began scrapbooking back in 2003 (6 years ago now, wow!) I bought the DCWV stacks when I first start scrapping cos they were cheap (on sale 180 sheets for $10) thing is I love most of the papers still, heck I love almost every patterned paper! lol! Anyway after assessing the amount of supplies I have I decided to start using the stash again. One day a week will be dedicated to purely stash, scraps and recycled projects.
