Card Sketch January #1

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Wow first card sketch of the New Year! I can hardly believe it's 2008!!! I love New Years! I know you're all making that New Years Resolution to join in the sketches each week right? *wink* Well this one is an oldie but goodie. I first sketched this out in 2006 (before photoshop!) and found it again recently in my files and decided to share it on the blog. If you want the digital template it can be downloaded from my digital store.

I'm loving the design of this card. With the preprinted stripes and just enough room for a sentiment (and using my alpha sticker stash). I also want to point out there are a total of 10 flowers and brads on this card... do you know how hard that was for me? I'm a total "I may need *this product* for a better project later" hoarder! Well no more!!! I am USING my stuff.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Dreamstreet; Alpha Stickers: Miss Elizabeths (dollartree); Flowers: Prima; Brads: MM, JoAnns;

I've been making lots of cards with the Dreamstreet papers recently so look out for more using these papers soon! I'm going to have a month long manufacturer challenge just for fun, using up our stash! I decided that Dreamstreet would be the first as I was using their product anyway for my final design team assignments at Treasures to Scrap. I still have a few sheets tucked away in my stash so dig em them out and lets USE them!

Oh and remember it's the new year, so if you have a copyright watermark you need to update it! Also don't forget my tutorial for putting a basic watermark on your project photo's. Stay up to date and protect your work!

Mums card this week. I think she's stamping again! Very proud of her using new techniques and learning as she goes! Mum turned the sketch this week, and used leaves as her accent, simple yet pretty.

Card by Linda Flinders

Jolene made a beautiful card this week, with swirly vines, and I love the bling in the leaves as a little accent. The monochromatic look works well for this card. The clean finished look really makes the sentiment stand out.

Card by Jolene Johnston
Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, Fancy Pants paper, Colorbox chalk inks, The Paper Studio chipboard, Stickles, Cloud 9 Design & Imaginisce rub ons, K& Co. bling

Ok here is the first new member to the sketch team - Kim Hughes! Kim and I have been friends for oh, over a year now!!! Wow how time flies! Anyway when she sent in an application I was totally over the moon! I love her work. If you're not familiar with her work check out her blog, her line of stamps (yep her own line, so proud of her!) or just open any magazine as she's all over the publications! Love her to bits and totally thrilled to have her on board!

Card by Kim Hughes
Supplies: Patterned Paper: Autumn Leaves; Alphabet Stickers: Making Memories; Sand Block: Making Memories; Flowers: Prima; Brads: American Crafts; Card Stock: Bazzill;Ribbon: Beaux Regards;

Kelli went all buttons over this sketch! I love the repetition of circles from the patterned paper, the buttons and the circle rub-ons. Totally ties the card together!

Card by Kelli Smith
supply list: Paper: Sassafrass lass; Rub-ons: Heidi Grace; Alpha: Scenic Route; Misc buttons;

I love the swirly scrolls of this card from Jo. The border around the edge, really adds some depth to the card without adding bulk! Beautiful Prima flowers as a perfect embellishment.

Card by Jo Willis
Supplies: DCWV cardstock, MAMBI monogram rub-ons, Sizzlits brackets die-cuts, KI Memories ribbon and organza ribbon, black Sakura pen, beads, Prima flowers and some eyelets.

Pearl chose a classic black and white with pops of red. One of my favorite color combinations! Just so beautiful and striking! Perfect for any occassion!

Card by Peal Liu
supply list : Scenic route cardstock sticker, Tinkering ink pp

Ruth rocked this sketch with the flowers and the PERFECT stamp for this sketch I think! Gonna have to go get this one myself I think! Just beautiful!

Card by Ruth Trice
Stamps by Anitas, HOTP, Stampin Up and Rubber Stamp Tapestry. Flowers by Prima with ribbon and vintage buttons.

As always hook me up in the comments if you do the sketch! I love to check them out!

more soon!

Di

Thank you for the card sketch! This couldn't have come at a better time, because I was just telling dh this morning before he left for work that I needed to make a card for his co-workers because they had sent me a plant and a card while I was in the hospital! Don't want to seem ungrateful! :) Thank you for the sketch template!

My 7 year old daugher, Freya, also made a card for my sister and BIL who have just moved home based on the sketch. I think her card is fab, don't you?

Hi there!
I've just found your site, and love the sketches. I made it one of my New Year's goals to play along more with the weekly sketch challenges. I really had fun with this sketch. I didn't get near as many flowers on mine, though!
