Back soon with more projects!

Saturday Sketch - February

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Today I thought I'd share another card I made with the February Sketch :) Maybe this will be a weekly thing? Who knows? Remember the template download for the sketch is available for a limited time so grab it while you can!

Here is my second card with this sketch! I've been slowly trying to use up a lot of older supplies and this EK success paper is one I have had in my stash for many years! I should call myself a craft supply hoarder rather than a crafter as sometimes I can't bear to cut into papers or use supplies. I tend to want to save them for a special project.

Supplies: Papers: EK Success; Flower: Prima

Remember I do a card sketches and other freebies every month so check by often!

Stamping card

Saturday, January 15, 2011

As a member of the Boxer design team I was pretty slack during the latter half of 2010, but vowed to make up for it in 2011. As a team we decided that we'd have potential weekly themes to create things, a challenge of sorts. This week on the Boxer blog was stamping challenge. Naturally that to me means sentiment stamps for cards.

I dug into my Boxer stash for this one for paper, rick rack, stamp and the slide mount. It's an old slide mount from discontinued Boxer stock years ago. Have I really been with Boxer that long? Sheesh! Anyway I like the card, the pop of purple is accented by a purple button on the slide mount. I figure it will do well as a guys birthday card, I struggle to make those!

Enjoy the weekend!

January free card printable

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Time for another free card printable, this one is January and features a birthday theme. You can download it here
  • To use download the file & unzip
  • print onto letter size cardstock
  • cut sheet in half, fold each piece in half to create 2 cards
  • add patterned paper as shown
  • add embellishments

I love the simplicity of printables! Perfect for quick and easy cards. I opted to ink the edges of my papers and cards but I could have simply left them clean if I wanted. Honestly I think I'm going through another inking phase right now....

Supplies: My Printable Download; Papers: Boxer; Ink: CTMH;

The second card I chose to put the paper all the way to the edges and a little wider. This left room for a small accent, so I chose some rhinestones to accent the sentiment.

Supplies: My Printable Download; Papers: Boxer; Ink: CTMH;

I love that these were quick and easy to make! In future I may just print out a few of these sheets and have them handy whilst creating other projects so I can use scraps of paper up! This design is perfect for those 1"-2" strips we get left over on some projects!

Enjoy!

Ready Set Create Dec/Jan issue

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Just sharing my publications from Ready Set Create Dec/Jan issue. You can still buy this issue from Ready Set Create and it has more than just Holiday items in it, in fact the holiday section is a small part of this issue! Lots of inspiration to be had. I had this paper bag book in the color combo section.

Of course there are some holiday items and I submitted a few to Jen and she published just about everything I emailed her ;) Love it when that happens! First up for the holidays is this tree ornament I made :)

All products by one heart... one mind

Then onto the holiday cards! You know I am all about the cards. Nice and simple for the first card this issue. Just let the paper do the talking.

Supplies: Cardstock & Stickers : DCWV; Paper: Creative Imaginations & Flair; Rub-ons: JoAnns.

Then one card I really liked that I made this year in my marathon "get all my England cards sent early" creative surge. I love the design on this one. Used it before but love how this one looks with the rub-on stitching too.

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Paper: Creative Imaginations; Epoxy: Hallmark; Rub-ons: one heart... one mind.

Then a couple of older cards I still had in my stash that I figured I'd submit also (remember even in projects are older, submit them anyway! You never know what the editors are looking for).

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Paper, chipboard & sticker: Scrapworks.

And finally another older card, with lots of bling on the chipboard. I love the Scrapworks blingy chipboard. Glitter gets everywhere, but it's growing on me.

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Paper &chipboard: Scrapworks.

So that's my projects from the current issue of Ready Set Create. Don't forget to check out the RSC blog to purchase your copy. Over 200 pages of inspiration!

Yesterday was my birthday and tonight we'll be going out to celebrate some more! A couple we know well, the wife has her birthday on the 18th so each year we go out all four of us to celebrate. Christmas Card Printable

Friday, December 3, 2010

I've been busy making some holiday cards lately, and yesterday afternoon I went on the "get 'er done" method. Simple, easy, and repeatable. Instead of going all out with techniques sometimes you just need to get cards whipped out fast and furious. So I came up with this printable. Print out onto a letter size sheet, cut, fold and accessorize with patterned paper or ribbon. Simple, quick, and easy!

To download the printable simply click THIS LINK to go to the download page, open, upzip and get busy making your holiday cards! Once printed I think both these cards below took all of 5 minutes to make!

Supplies: Cardstock: Georgia Pacific; Paper: Imaginisce; Font: Teen; Ink: Close to my heart;

For my second card I decided to cut the white panel out and mount it onto red cardstock for the card base. I think it gives it more pop! But I really like both versions. Obviously this one took a little longer, maybe an extra 30 seconds!

Supplies: Cardstock: Georgia Pacific & DCWV; Paper: Imaginisce; Font: Teen; Ink: Close to my heart;

 Enjoy!

Happy Birthday card

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

It's December! Happy December folks! Today I thought I'd share a birthday card. Yeah Yeah I know it's December but hey December has birthdays too, in fact in December it's my birthday. Few days to go yet till my birthday but figured I had some projects to share so why not?

Supplies: Paper: EK Success; Font: Wonderful Wendy

I love this card design, it's one I've used over and over again. Never get tired of it. Plus with printing out the black text strip it comes together REALLY easily! Simply add black inked edges to the card and paper pieces to pull the whole card design together!

Home is where the heart is...

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Happy Thanksgiving All! To the rest of the world, happy Thursday ;) It's Thanksgiving here in the USA so pretty hard not to get sucked into making traditions for this time of year. Plus it's the inevitable lead up to my December with features my birthday and Christmas, Bob however is keeping his eyes firmly on the prize with Black Friday and Cyber Monday bargains ;) What can I say my man LOVES a bargain, he has his eyes set on a few gadgets so hopefully the geeky gods shine down and put them on sale for him, lol.

Meanwhile hope you are all enjoying your Thanksgiving Thursday, and with that I will leave you with a card I made recently featured in the Fall Sampler of Ready Set Create

Enjoy your day!

Memories

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I'm one of those people that doesn't really dwell on the past, more into looking to the future and moving ahead but Thanksgiving is almost here and I can't help but reminisce on the year gone by and look towards another year ahead. It's amazing to think how the last year has panned out. My career change, my body change, basically a life change! A lot has changed in the last year and I am so thankful for friends new and old, and family.

Today I thought I'd share a card I made recently with some OLD product. DCWV and Karen Foster on this card. Trying to use up all the odd bits of paper I have for the seasonal stuff before I allow myself to buy any new ;) This card was also featured in the Fall Sampler of Ready Set Create

Maybe it's a sign I'm getting older, but Bob and I both find ourselves saying "remember that time when..." or maybe that's just a sign we've been together so long! Not that I'd trade him for the world!!! It's fun to have those stories and memories to reminisce about =)

Card Sentiment Freebie

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I got a few requests for the sentiment strip, from people not knowing how to create white text on black background. I said in the post that I'd zip up the full size jpg and put it up for download so here is the link for the following download jpg

Simply download unzip and then print the jpg. Those of you with photo editing software can change the color etc. Not sure how long SendSpace allows the files to be active for, I think it's a week or two, so go snag it. Maybe next time I'll add the PSD file, or a PDF? Let me know which would be more beneficial!

Enjoy!

Saturday Sketch - November

Saturday, November 20, 2010

So I know it's been a while, but I figured mid month is a good time to post a card sketch right? Heck anytime is a good time to post a card sketch! Anyway here is a nice simple sketch for you craft cardmakers out there! Perfect for beginners too!

The sentiment panel features a layered text effect but feel free to switch that up. I left embellishments out on the sketch as I think sometimes they distract from the design or keep our creativity from taking over. For my card I decided on some leaf paper, and a text paper, being Fall season and all!

Supplies: All supplies by DCWV. Featured in the Fall Sampler of Ready Set Create

As always hook me up in the comments if you make a card with the sketch so I can come check them out!

Enjoy!

Ready Set Create Oct/Nov

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Recently I had three cards published in the Oct/Nov issue of Ready Set Create Magazine :) and I was pretty happy as they were all made with some old papers I had from EK Success. When I got the papers I LOVED the colors and design and 'saved' them for that special project that would do them justice... we all do that right? Yeah well 2 years later I still had them sitting... waiting... Well when I sorted through my scrapbook stash I decided that as there were only a few pages of each I would USE them. So I made some cards and sent them off to Jen at RSC and she chose these three to publish :)

Papers: EK Success; Frame: Rob n Bob; Rub-Ons: one heart... one mind

Papers: EK Success; Stamp: Boxer Scrapbooks; Bling: Glitz
Papers & Ribbon: EK Success; Frame: Rob n Bob; Rub-Ons: one heart... one mind

Calling all cardmakers

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

I am reaching out to my crafty people out there in blogland for some help, so if you can help with any of the questions I have below please email me or leave answers in the comments :) Thanks!

In the next month or two I am hoping to launch a new website directly aimed at cardmakers. What I want from you craft folks out there is some information on:

  • the kinds of things you'd like to see on a new site.Challenges, sketches etc.
  • Any information on cardmaking specific monthly kits. I already know of a few, but wondering if there are a few more out there that haven't been on my crafty radar!
  • Who inspires you to make cards, whose cards do you love? (you CANNOT choose me!)
  • What do you NOT want to see on a cardmaking blog/site?
  • Any other comments?

Thanks everyone! Hopefully this will give me some time to get everything together and launch Dec 1st :) Fingers crossed everyone!
