April Stash Bust

Sunday, April 11, 2010

So I've been a little busy the last week or so as you probably noticed from lack of updates, so much going on that I plan on updating in another post soon, including a March Round-Up post. Honestly I NEED to blog because I miss it! I miss sharing my projects online and soon I'm going to forget what I have and haven't shared and end up repeating myself lol!

Today I thought I'd share some cards I made recently with some old Autumn Leaves papers. Just stash busting cards here so nothing special, just using up scraps of old paper, and old rub-on sentiments. I am so into reusing and using things lately that I hope to eventually just use up most of my supplies. Lol, I don't see it happening anytime soon! Anyhow here is some eye candy for today!

Supplies: Cardstock: DCWV; Paper: Autumn Leaves; Flower: Prima; Rhinstone: Sulyn; Rub-on: one heart... one mind;

April Stash Bust

Thursday, April 1, 2010

So recently I've not done a lot of crafting, mostly due to rushing around teaching classes, health & fitness blogging and generally just living life rather than documenting it :) However I really do miss that creative outlet so I am going to try to be creative at least three days a week. I figure I can at least set aside to make a card or two on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday's right? As I was pondering this thought this morning I was reading my favorite blogs in bloglines and saw this post on Craft Leftovers about Stash Busting in April and I decided that April would be a good time to get creative again and see how I can merge and manage both my fitness career and creative career.

So I'm taking the pledge to get creative but without buying anything new for the whole of April. Not a huge problem considering the amount of stash I have. I've tweeted and facebooked about the stash problem so hopefully I can reduce the stash, use some of the scrap pile and get my desk cleared!!!

So there is the challenge for all you blog readers! Are you game for an April Stash Bust?

Disclaimer: I do need to buy one new printer cartridge but I NEED that for business use more than craft use so I'm not counting it as a craft supply even though I do use my printer sometimes :)

Using Your Stash!

Friday, April 10, 2009

As I've been rearranging my scrapbook room I've been thinking a lot lately about the amount of scrapbook supplies I have here just sitting around. I think a scrapbookers stash falls into a couple of categories:
  1. Stuff we'll always love and use
  2. Stuff we love but don't use
  3. Stuff we bought when we first started scrapping and no longer love

The problem lies in the fact that if we don't USE the supplies in category 2 then they eventually end up in category 3. I personally have had that happen to many many supplies I've bought in the past as I am sure everyone has! When I initially began scrapbooking back in 2003 (6 years ago now, wow!) I bought the DCWV stacks when I first start scrapping cos they were cheap (on sale 180 sheets for $10) thing is I love most of the papers still, heck I love almost every patterned paper! lol! Anyway after assessing the amount of supplies I have I decided to start using the stash again. One day a week will be dedicated to purely stash, scraps and recycled projects.

Supplies: Paper & Cardstock: DCWV; rub-on: one heart... one mind; Flower: Prima; button & ribbon: misc

I'm thinking of a weekly challenge or something, I dunno. Just an idea I am tossing around in my head. I'm sure I can't be the only one out there with TONS of stash!

Sometimes I dig through my stash and find pieces that will inspire me to create, like these metal embellishments from Hot off the Press. When I saw them I immediately thought of these papers by Boxer, fun bright and just overall happy feeling.

BOO

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Yay it's the weekend! Love the weekends! This weeks stash challenge is to use FOAM STAMPS! If you're like me, you bought them and shoved them on a shelve after using them once or twice. This Halloween set was published in Scrapstreets August magazine.

Supplies: Stamps: Scrapworks, Paper: Die Cuts With a View, Brads: Creative Impressions, Bag Template: Di Hickman, Other: ink.

The Scrapworks stamps are small, and it makes them useful for many things, including cards, small projects, or layouts. Foam stamps are so versatile with lots of uses. On my projects I used black ink, but you could use ink, paint, glitter glue, and more, the sky is the limit!

So dig out those foam stamps this weekend!

Stash Saturday

Saturday, September 13, 2008

Yep its DCWV card again! Are you sick of seeing it yet? I think I am. As much as I love these 'flouncy' papers they are sometimes tough to use. Nice, quick and simple card, just added some extra paper, shoved a big flower on and put the sticker (also from the set) on for a flower center. Then I realized it had no sentiment so I reached for the card set pack, saw the little bitty alpha stickers and just added a simple sentiment. I'm not usually one for stickers but I've been using them a fair bit lately.

Supplies: Papers, stickers, cardstock: DCWV; Flower: Hot off the Press;

So if you want a challenge, reach into your stash, pull out some alpha stickers and use those on a project. These little bitty ones work great for cards, and you get lots on a sheet!

More projects soon! Enjoy the weekend!

Stash Saturday

Saturday, September 6, 2008

When I started the stash challenge my aim was to use up OLD stuff and scraps from projects that are left out on the scrap table (saves putting them away). Anyway back in MAY I spotlighted Daisy Bucket and had a few little scraps left which I shoved to one side thinking "oh I can do a couple of scraps cards with those!" and in AUGUST I finally got around to it!

Supplies:Cardstock: DCWV; Papers: Daisy Bucket; Rub-on: JoAnns;

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this design is GREAT for scraps. Seriously I use it ALL THE TIME. These two cards came together really quickly, just using stuff out on the table and scraps.

Supplies:Cardstock: DCWV; Papers: Daisy Bucket; Rub-on: JoAnns;

So, look around on your scrap table RIGHT NOW, see what papers there are and whip up a couple of cards using scraps from your last project.

Enjoy the weekend

Stash Saturday

Saturday, August 30, 2008

I mentioned last week that my reasoning for Stash Saturday is using scraps, using old products and basically it's a con so that instead of tidying up my table I just use the stuff rather than put it away, lol. As I've been using 3 Bugs in a Rug a lot this month I had one half sheet of patterned paper left of their Christmas line and didn't want to put it back alone. So I punched the circles from the sheet, and used coordinating papers to make a few cards.

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Sticker: JoAnns; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Rub-on: JoAnns; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

Supplies: Papers: 3 Bugs in Rug, DCWV; Rub-On: 3 Bugs in Rug; Ink: Clearsnap; Brads: Making Memories; Punch: Fiskars;

As you can see all of them have the same design, if something works just go with it! I am really building up a Christmas card stash now! How about making some Christmas cards this weekend? Get prepared! The holiday season will soon be here!

Enjoy the weekend...

Stash Saturday

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Ok I really scraped the bottom of the stash pile for this weeks project, not in a bad way just that EVERYTHING on this card is OLD, as in about 2 years old. The paper is from an old Scrapologie kit that I hoarded because it was one of those papers I liked but didn't think I could use on a layout, so it got filed away. Dragged it out and started with the paper, added cardstock scraps, been using vellum sentiment pack (found under a pile of rub-ons recently), and added the dotlets for some interest.

Cardstock: DCWV; Paper: mara-mi (floral), DCWV (dots) ; vellum: JoAnns; Dotlets: Making Memories

So what about all of you? Scrapping plans this weekend? Maybe try digging out a sheet of old paper and going from there? See where the creativity leads you!

Have a great weekend!

Stash Saturday

Saturday, August 9, 2008

Hey it's Stash Saturday again! Wow this week I really dug into the stash!!! This paper has been in my stash since I started scrapbooking in 2003, it was on sale at a store that has since closed. One of those times where you just HAVE to buy it cos it's on sale, then it sits in your stash, lol.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, Prism, DCWV; Paper: Provocraft; Brads: Provocraft; Rub-on: PSX; Rhinestones: Westrim Crafts;

I dug out some coordinating cardstock for a couple of monochromatic cards. The rub-on is OLD as I believe PSX have closed (pity their rub-ons rocked). The newest thing is probably the flower brads by provocraft which are about 18 months- 2 years old! lol!

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill; Paper: Provocraft; Brads: Provocraft; Flower: Prima; Acrylic: JoAnns; Ribbon: Target;

So what about you? What old stuff are you dragging out and finally using?

Have a great weekend!

Saturday Stash Challenge

Saturday, July 19, 2008

After some thought I decided to change the Stamping Saturday to Stash. Usually when I start projects I start with a theme in mind, or sketch, or product. Now, once a week I will pick out one or two oldest things in my stash and create SOMETHING with it.

This is a quick card using OLD paper, I'd estimate 3 years old paper. The pale pink papers on the card are left overs from projects done recently. The flowers are brads, and approximately 18 months old.
Stamps are less than a year old, but the pens are 2 years old. Simple design, but quick and uses scraps and old stash :) Seeing the supplies go down, and card pile go up, makes me happy :) In hindsight I wish I'd scalloped the edge of the cardstock, but it's stuck down fast (ATG gun) and so I call it done!

Supplies: Paper: Colorbok; Cardstock: DCWV; Corner Rounder: EK Success; Brads: Provocraft; Stamp: Boxer; Other: Rhinestones, Stamp markers;

So dig out the oldest thing you got and go for it!
