January free card printable

Time for another free card printable, this one is January and features a birthday theme. You can download it here

• To use download the file & unzip
• print onto letter size cardstock
• cut sheet in half, fold each piece in half to create 2 cards
• add patterned paper as shown
• add embellishments

I love the simplicity of printables! Perfect for quick and easy cards. I opted to ink the edges of my papers and cards but I could have simply left them clean if I wanted. Honestly I think I'm going through another inking phase right now....

Supplies: My Printable Download; Papers: Boxer; Ink: CTMH;

The second card I chose to put the paper all the way to the edges and a little wider. This left room for a small accent, so I chose some rhinestones to accent the sentiment.

Supplies: My Printable Download; Papers: Boxer; Ink: CTMH;

I love that these were quick and easy to make! In future I may just print out a few of these sheets and have them handy whilst creating other projects so I can use scraps of paper up! This design is perfect for those 1"-2" strips we get left over on some projects!

Enjoy!

For my card this week I chose to use scraps of papers on my scraptable. The papers for this card were originally a calendar from 2009. I simply re-purposed them for this card. I love recycling and reusing. I'm not sure you can tell from the photo that well but the die cut is glittery :)

Desktop Freebie & Card-a-day finale!

Good afternoon! I am feeling really happy and positive today :) Made some changes yesterday to my schedule and feeling a little less pressure already knowing that my load will be lighter than ever shortly, though I'll be busy studying for my fitness exams again then though, lol!

First up today I wanted to share this desktop freebie, it is afterall almost July and new month means we switch out the desktops for something seasonal I think don't you? July's desktop is available in my digital stores at: Di Hickman Designs, Scrapwow and soon to be at 3Scrapateers (if I get busy and get uploading!)

The desktop is made with my latest digital kit, released today called "Let Freedom Ring". It's a kit designed with patriotic pages in mind. The kit is loaded with 5 patterned papers, and coordinating solids, with 10 different embellishments (including word art, buttons, glitter borders, ribbons, frames and journaling spots) to make many patriotic pages celebrating 4th July or simply flying the flag! Though a few of the elements are American themed, the papers and majority of the embellishments could be used for any Red, White and Blue pages! On sale for just $2.50 thru July, available at Di Hickman Designs, Scrapwow and soon at 3Scrapateers!

And it's the final day of Make a Card a Day Month! Wow this month FLEW by! I waited till this afternoon to update so I could post yesterdays and today's card so that I can concentrate on July's new sketches tomorrow! Totally loved doing a card a day, but it did make me realize that a layout a day as a goal is a little optimistic! Definitely not something I am going to attempt in the upcoming months but hopefully one day!

I used yesterday's sketch to make this card using some Imagination Project papers, prima flower, and miscellaneous ribbon and buttons in my stash. I think I need to make more blank cards as this came together really quickly and could be used for ANY occassion!

Today's sketch is this one below. I love it for the scallops and the fact that it could work rotated, flipped and any size! So versatile!

I decided to keep to my theme of using scraps on my scraptable and used more Imagination Project. This time I paired it with a Queen & Co flower, Bazzil big brad and some misc ribbon. Not quite as I planned but I like it. I photographed it this way up but I like it rotated 90 degrees too!

So tomorrow is back to normal blogging, and it's a Wednesday so it's new card sketch day! I can't wait to share what the girls have been working on, but first I gotta get busy and get some designing done! See you in July!

Digital update - card templates

I mentioned on my blog Wednesday that I've been reminiscing about past sketches/templates of mine over the last 2+ years. I haven't always offered the digital templates for my sketches, and even though I do offer the templates now, they are free for only a limited time. It's quite a struggle balancing my desire for educating and inspiring with the sketches/templates and wanting to earn some money from the digital designing. It takes quite a while each month to create the sketches/templates, and although I love what I do, I admit it's nice to get a pay check too! lol.

After some soul searching I think I've decided on a happy medium. In the future ALL Wednesday card templates will be offered free for 48 hours only. Upon the 48 hours I will remove the item from the store and (eventually) repackage them into card template packs for sale in the store. I really feel that this is the best solution for everyone concerned. Plus it will give everyone a second chance to snag templates they missed. Also some templates will be in their original format, some may change shapes, or styles, some may be made into photocards, and some may just get thrown on the discard pile, lol. My plan is that the initial sale price will be just $1.00 for a week, then $2.00, then the regular sale price.

On that note, I am releasing packs of card templates in the upcoming year from all the sketches over the last TWO YEARS! That's a LOT of card templates! Card set 1 was released a while ago and can be seen here.

Card set #2 is unique in that these were cards that I didn't make templates for originally. These were based on card sketches done in 2006 when I created my first sketches. As such these have NOT been previously offered as freebies on the blog :)

This week sees the release of set #3. For this one I decided to put all square ones together in a pack. These templates make 5"x5" cards. All the card packs are available at Di Hickman Designs, Scrapwow or A Cherry On Top

Freebies are great, I personally love using them, and love creating them, however they also come with a time tag which needs to be paid. To that end I really think this is a fair compromise, and I hope you agree!

Lots more soon!

Desktop Freebie

Can you believe another month is over already? Where is the time going? Soon be Christmas as they say! Anyway tomorrow marks the month of October and as always here is a free desktop for your computer, available at Di Hickman Designs, my acot store, and my store at scrapwow

Naturally October meant it had to be Halloween themed so I used my Fiendish Fun kit. This was part of a collaboration kit I did with Robin (mad scrapper) last year. I decided to release it as a mini kit. Normally I'd put a coupon in the desktop for a % off but I forgot, so I am making this a reduced price for everyone - just $1.00 for a limited time! (regular price $1.95). Available at Di Hickman Designs, my acot store, and my store at scrapwow

You can see some treat bag toppers I made using this kit in an older blog post, and I hope to have more projects up soon!
