one heart.... one mind

Got a box of stuff yesterday with projects an product from one heart... one mind. Some projects I completely forgot about, so sharing a few cards today. These are baby girl cards I made earlier this year.

This was in my Rhinestone/bling phase. Which I am still in really. It just goes so well with the one heart... one mind papers! Oh and wait till you see the new rub-ons coming out! TO DIE FOR!!! 11x11!!! Hope to be able to share something with those soon too.

In other news: Got a happy email today that's making me smile! Love those! Still working on assignments. I have scheduled time this afternoon for emails. I owe a few people emails so hopefully get on those this afternoon. Lots to work on till my dealine dates of the 15th so gonna be busy creating! Have a crafty weekend!

Ready Set Create June/July issue!

Ok back this afternoon feel a little more awake so sharing last issues projects in Ready Set Create June/July issue. I had a few projects in this one, and I saw some projects using my sketches! So cool to see my name in the credits, weird but cool.

This issue had a few calls I could submit to, namely the topics of Fathers and Patriotic. I sent in a few for each and got them picked up! Love these few of my Dad! The title on the first is "Even better than the real thing" cos he's my step-father, I won't go into my biological fathers downfalls, that could be a whole new blog!

Naturally I submitted a few things for cards. As I remember the theme was 'thanks' which I have a few of those! Some using Boxer products, and one using one heart... one mind.

The August/September issue of Ready Set Create is available now, I have a few projects in there too. All layouts this time!

Well I got a goodie box from one heart... one mind this morning so I need to go create things. 2 assignments to get cracking on. Back tomorrow with more stuff.

post full of nothing much

I am so tired today it's unreal. I slept so heavily last night, completely ZONKED out when I got into bed. In fact so much so that I slept through a 4.5 earthquake at 1am this morning. The dogs barked and everything (and they lie right next to the bed) and I missed it all.Hoping this is just a one off and I'm not coming down with anything... I am too busy to be sick!

Well nothing much to report today, I might be back later with a post about the last issue of Ready Set Create, but I'm trying to get some assignment work done today.

I do want to share this article on shrink plastic! Who knew that shrink plastic was all around us? And mostly for FREE! I know we've had a couple of those containers as doggy bags! I'm kinda psyched to get back into techniquey stuff. I go through phases with it. Lately I'm all about acrylics, pieces not paint.

Ok gotta go try and wake myself up! It's 11.30 and I feel like going back to bed! *yawn*

I have to say I loved this sketch! In my efforts to get ahead on September cards (heavy birthday month for me) I made 2 cards with envelopes. I used 2 sheets of DCWV patterned paper from an old stack, and some cardstock with a few miscellaneous embellishments. Yep just 2 sheets of paper and that INCLUDES the envelopes! This sketch can be pretty minimal on the papers if you use scraps! I made the envelopes using a template then used the left over strip on the card! Definitely think I'll be using this sketch again!

Changes!

Don't panic I'm changing the blog layout and colors etc! Hopefully my new banner is working (check) and nothing broke! (so far so good!). Going with the brown and turquoise as it seems to be 'me' right now, plus it matches the new template/sketch previews. Hopefully the new blog layout, and template previews will match the new newsletter layout and my new resume site.

Making your own brushes

Lots of talk on the message boards about protecting your images online and so I thought I'd share with you a tutorial I did last month for the TTS newsletter on making your own simple copyright brush in photoshop.

1 - First open a new document. Transparent background is important for this.

2. Using the font of your choice write the year and your name, then we'll add the (c)

3. Wonderful thing about photoshop is the pre-set shapes. Using the shape tool, choose the copyright symbol and draw the symbol infront on your text.4. Next we'll save the brush, to do this select the area you wish the brush to be. Do this with the selection tool. You will get a box around the area with marching ants. Then go to: Edit>Define brush preset

5. Then you will get a pop-up box asking you to name your brush, I called mine what it was: "copyright Di Hickman"

6. Once the brush is saved you will be able to use in it the current brush palette. If you scroll down it will be on the bottom of the palette. You can now use this on all your images in any color you wish.

However if you change your brush palette you will lose the brush so I suggest you save the palette. You do this by going to your brush palette>save brushes. I save mine as copyright. Now whenever I need to copyright a bunch of photo's I can just open that palette set to get my brush!

I always apply my brush to a new layer so I can change the opacity of it.
