Tutorial Tues - changing blog URL

One of the questions I get a lot about blogging is "I don't like my blog name, can I change it?", and the answer is YES you can! As long as it's available on Blogger! I'm not talking the blog title here, I'm talking the URL like mine (up there in your browser) is http://dihickman.blogspot.com that can be changed in Blogger if you picked something and decided later that you don't like it. Here's how.

1. Sign into Blogger, and go to your dashboard. Click "settings".

2. Once in settings, click "publishing".

3. In the box, enter the name you want for your blog, and click "save settings". Remember that just because you want a particular name, doesn't mean to say it will be available! Blogger has thousands of active blogs and lots of the popular names have long gone! You may have to try a couple of times till you get a name that you like, and is available!

4. Congratulations you should now have a new blog URL!

Remember:

• If you have blog readers using RSS feeds, the feed will now be null and void and they will have to sign up again through their feed provider.
• As I recall if you are using feedblitz for blog email updates for your blog readers, don't forget to change the blog URL!
• If you have your blog link in forum signatures, these will need updating.
  
• Same thing if you have your blog link in email signatures etc
  
• If you are linked on any blog rolls or from any other sources you'll need to send out a reminder to update the blog link.

I know a few of you were interested in my "offline day challenge" and good for you! Janneke made tags, and Beverley needs to decide on a day, lol. I got a TON of stuff done. Creative stuff: 2 cards, and 1 article. Whoohooo! I also got lots of other stuff done around the house.

I have to say the day went well till about 3pm when I wanted to do some work on the computer, once I got over that hump I was fine. Viva offline day for a weekly event! yay!

Layout Sketch July

No manufacturer Monday as it's the 14th!!! That means its LAYOUT SKETCH DAY! YAY! Here is one that I personally found super easy to use. The layout kinda just fell together which is GREAT when that happens! Pretty much all the girls said it was great to use too! The digital template is available free in my store for a limited time, so grab it while you can.

When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use my latest kit 'USA' as I hadn't used it yet. The landscape template worked perfectly for the photo and the rest just fell into place. It's sometimes difficult working with your own digital kits, but this one is probably my favorite to date, but I think the whole thing just came together with the template! Don't forget you can find more digital templates for sale in my store!

New Digital Products

I released the 12x12 version of this digital template set last week, but this week I bring the 8.5 x 11 version! I personally love this size, so I always offer both sizes.

Weekend update

Yay it's the weekend! I am SO ready for this weekend! Tomorrow will be a major creative surge (more on that below). I've been busy, busy, busy this week. Hope to share stuff soon. Here is one card I can share, a quickie I made this morning, using 'stuff' on the table, lol.

Supplies: Papers, stickers, stamps: Boxer Scrapbooks; Ink: Clearsnap; Other: Tag, Vellum;

Lately I find myself drawn to stickers! Of all things! Swings and roundabouts I guess. One good reason to NEVER toss anything, lol! These are from Boxer part of the butterfly garden line. Layered across a card they make a great focal area.

• Instructions. Adhere pink paper to card then apply stickers, overlapping and rotating. Stamp on a vellum tag. The floral strip is a sticker laid on a 1" vellum strip, poke a brad through to dangle the tag, and then adhere to card.

Simple, quick, and yet quite effective. You really don't need to make every card a one of a kind masterpeice. Use the same design, heck use the same papers, duplicate the SAME CARD. It's allowed! Just send them to people who will probably never meet and no-one will ever know! I won't tell if you don't!

No creative stuff tomorrow, just a digital store update. Sundays are now my "offline day" so I pre-prepare the post and just let blogger do it's thing. Instead I hope to be CREATING! Imagine that! Well as soon as I clear off this table, lol!

How many times do you sit down on the computer and next thing an hour (or two) has passed and you've achieved nothing? Well lets do something about it! Dedicate one day to getting OFFLINE! If you want to join in my offline day challenge, just snag the blinkie! Lets get offline and get CREATING!

Theme Thursday - Christmas Cards!

Remember this month is all about Christmas in July (then August, September, October and November) as we try and get ahead on the preparation for the holiday season!

For this card I used my favorite frugal card embellishment: GIFT TAGS! If you haven't used these on cards, well why not? I've written about this before but they really do make great accents for cards! My favorite store to stalk for the sales is Target for their gift tags (where this one comes from). They have holes already punched for ribbon, and they make card making a SNAP!
