SS in the mail + Rhonna's Challenge day 10/21

Wednesday, April 5, 2006

So I packaged off my layout today to Simple scrapbooks. I sent it on its merry way with a quick blessing of "please arrive safely". Yep I talk to my mail! Anyway until I know they received it I'll be panicking that I won't get "in". So positive thoughts for my little layout in it HUGE box.

This is Rhonna's day 10 challenge. All about change. How strange the last 10 days have been. The quote says "it is in change that we find purpose" Heraclitus. Whilst thinking about the quote I saw this background paper (rusty pickle I think) and then the scenic route (harlequin) lying on my table from a previous project and I remembered about these butterflies. They are vellum. I remember vaguely getting them in a RAK a year ago from a pubster (I don't even remember who!). And they sat waiting to be used and today they came out! I can't help but feel kinda like a butterfly this week with the whole SS call. Its a time of change this week as I re-evaluate my goals. I took time this week to make some other changes in my life! Some overdue clothes shopping for one!

Rhonna Farrer 21 day challenge - day 9

Tuesday, April 4, 2006

Todays quote is about personal goals and improvements seeing every small thing and embracing it. I'm not competing against Martha Stewart with the housekeeping but I'd rather not live in a tip either! Scrapbooking wise I'm not competiting against everyone else cos if *I* am happy with my work then the publishing is the cherry on the cake.

This leads the second page I did today. Yesterday I posted about how I could retire because I'd achieved my personal best goal of being published in Simple Scrapbooks, then I happened upon keri smiths blog and found this list. It hit home that yes I have achieved my current goals but that doesn't mean its over! I need to re-evaluate and make new goals. I did blur the journalling as its an indepth look into how I react to the list and its personal :)

That layout in turn lead me to this one. New scrapbooking goals. I can't manage my time in my scrapbook room without new goals! The little trophy card has the details of my call yesterday from Simple Scrapbooks :) The goals are listed in no particular order. Some are dependant on ME, some on external forces. The design team issue is one I already had for the year so its the only one I have left from my original goals for this year! What I planned on doing (but never got round to!) was making my own! The Spotoncreations Design team! Members = ME! Seriously I get a monthly kit club and all I need to do is USE the submission info I have and CREATE with the kit. I haven't touched last months yet and Aprils in on the way! This is something I have to start doing! Using my supplies. CREATE CREATE CREATE! I have a monthly total of scrapbooking goals (includes submissions, layouts, challenges etc) and I do usually meet these goals. I need to have them posted on my whiteboard to keep track of! Maybe I will post them to my blog every 1st of the month? Make myself accountable! Ok I might just do that! Good idea Di! ;0)

Rhonna Farrers 21 challenge - day 7 + 8

Monday, April 3, 2006

Day 8 - Rhonna's quote with some of her doodles (freepea kit 2peas) and my journalling, this is a digital page, printed. All about the journalling today. Rhonna asked what changes we'd seen in the last 7 days of this challenge. Honestly I think the biggest one for me was seeing that I need to take better care of myself. I neglect myself. I took time today and bought some new t-shirts and a new bra! I desperately need to sort through and organise the clothes in my closet. I'm a low maintenance woman but seriously my clothes are lacking! This leads to me not wanting to have my photo taken cos I look a mess. So I'm prioritising and taking better care of myself.

Day 7 - Is all about replacing the old with the new. I emphasized the quote for this one. A little journalling. Reminding myself that I need challenge and practise. Out with the old in with the NEW.

Sunday Scribblings

Sunday, April 2, 2006

So I was browsing through Rhonna's comments for the 21 day challenge and found this awesome new challenge called Sunday Scribblings. Its a weekly challenge with writing prompts. Not something I'd normally do cos I'm not a writer but then who knows? This weeks challenge is to the left "What would you attempt if you knew you would not fail?"

I would attempt anything that was legal :) well that's the short answer, but that is the answer regardless of failure! Personally I don't care about failure. Just because I don't achieve my goals doesn't mean I failed. You only fail at something if you don't learn from the experience. Its like Thomas Edison said "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work". That is how I view failure. Learn from it, grow, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. Now if the question were "what would I attempt if I had more time?" Well totally different answer! I have lots of things I want to acheive in this lifetime and I should really make a start...

Day #6

Todays quote "the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all" mulan. Todays peice was created digitally and printed out, took inspiration from rhonna's colors in the quote and ran with it. I even included a photo of me! Altered the transparancy so its faded, for me it represents a blossoming, not quite fully visable but you can see the potential. Added some DCWV paper for a matt and some prima's with beads.

Cards done recently etc

Quick update of some cards I have been creating. Some are from March, some are for April. I'm trying to get out of the linear thing. I'm loving the pink baby one. Seems I am quite into pink lately, who knew? I also just ordered my April kit at scrapologie. I really couldn't decide whether or not to get this kit, but after seeing the studio girls gallery and some of the layouts on 2peas I've gone and ordered it! Its not my usual style of papers and I guess I needed some inspiration. I'm more of a 'color me silly' or 'hang 10' collection kinda gal so 'urban couture' seemed a little fancy for my scrapping but I'm loving the stuff I've seen so far!

Also its Melissa's birthday today! Our wonderful host for the 2peas birthday group (1). Happy Birthday Melissa! This is her birthday tag. KI papers; MM eyelets; Offray ribbon; DCWV rub-ons.
