Scrapstreet June issue

Friday, July 6, 2007

Ok as I can't get to anything on my PC still I thought I'd share projects from Junes Scrapstreet Ezine. I had a few projects in this one, some I submitted, some requested, some I was approached for, and one I wrote the article for.

This first layout was a cover finalist, didn't make the cover but I'm happy with it! And as it was a wedding issue I submitted a digital layout too, using some of the same pics.

Paper: Imagination Project, Chloes Closet, Cardstock: Bazzill, Alphabet: (bride) Making Memories velvet, Stamp: Autumn Leaves, Journaling stamps: Pen: Zig Millennium, Other: stitching.

Digital Kit: beautiful you papers and embellishment pack, sketch #11 Shelle Pukas designs (www.shellepukasdesigns.com), Alpha: shabby princess alpha (www.shabbyprincess.com).

I joined in the Weekend Crop fun in May and made a card from the Saturday night sketch. Used some old supplies which is always good. Anyway some of the crop weekend challenges you can submit (the lift challenge and sketch challenges for example) and I figured what the heck, and YAY it got picked up! You can see the sketch HERE

Paper: Christina Cole(Provocraft), Embellishement: Christina Cole(Provocraft), Ribbon Tape: Heidi Swapp, Rub-on: Die cuts with a View.

May brought some changes at Scrapstreet, with the new team members on their second month one of the existing team left and I offered to do her column, the card corner. Regular blog readers will know I LOVE cards! So I was delighted to fill in short notice! The theme was wedding and all things related to it. Loved the submissions, so hard to pick sometimes! Anyway I made this invite for the article, which you can find HERE.

Invites: one heart... one mind, Rub-ons: one heart... one mind, Ink: Around the Block.

The June issue saw the start of Pet Park, the new pet column by Spink. When she got the go ahead for the column she emailed me immediately requesting this layout. She'd seen it in the gallery, as I did it for the Scrapstreet Star contest and she loved it! Love it when that happens!

Supplies: Patterned paper: Crate, Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View, Chipboard alphabet: Heidi Swapp, Stamp: Boxer Scrapbooks.

June was the start of my Sponsor projects for Scrapstreet, and the sponsor was Imagination Project! Anyone that knows me knows I LOVE IP! Well I got to play with Circus Rose.

Supplies: Papers/Stickers: Imagination Project.

I have to say that initially this paper was difficult for me, wasn't sure what to do with it. I LOVED the paper but asymmetrical stuff just isn't my style, but after playing with it, I LOVE the layout!

Supplies: Papers/Stickers: Imagination Project, Alphabet: Heidi Swapp, Stamp: Autumn Leaves, Pen: Zig.

June saw the start of my Hybrid Column! I am so excited to be doing my own column! Anyway Junes column is all about computer journaling, such an easy way to add computer techniques to a paper layout. Looking forward to sharing LOTS more information in the future!

Supplies: Paper: Basic Grey, Cardstock: Bazzill, Rub-ons: SEI, Making Memories, alphabet stickers: American Crafts, Font: Arial.

As always we had a free digital kit and this issue was White Wedding by Dora and Spink. Fun kit, with little color, and lots of room for you to add your own flair! Loved all the swirls in this one!

Our assignment naturally was a Wedding layout! I have to say I loved the papers and elements in the kit, but the alpha really was divine! My layout was simple looking but involved lots of digital techniques

Supplies: Digital Kit: White Wedding by Dora Phillips and Michelle "Spink" Boeckermann for ScrapStreet.com, Pink paper: Shelle Pukas Beautiful You kit, Font: SP Wonderful Wendy, Calligraph 421 BT; stitching my own design.

And so we begin again with the July issue! Another bumper issue! I have my hybrid column up "think before you print!" And the digital section just gets better and better! I also have to shout out to my buddy Lucy Chesna, as the sketches we did back in May, well one of them was featured in the July issue along with some samples! So fun to see them being used!

As always there is a free kit and this month is totally patriotic with Fiesta Fourth! Love those bling circles! Such a fun kit! And FREE! Go snag it!

Finally we have the submissions for September issue! So get those emails in to: Submissions@scrapstreet.com

September Cover Contest: Raw textures in your scrapping--are you using "naked" chipboard, kraft paper, wood, cardboard, notebook paper? If so, you could be our cover winner. The winner receives a prize package and all finalists are published in the article.

Reminder for us all!

Thursday, July 5, 2007

So each morning as I munch on breakfast and drink my OJ I surf the web, check DT boards, and sort through emails on my laptop. Bob and I both sit in the lounge and when he goes to work I dissapear into my scraproom and start my day, booting up the PC and checking my to-do list. Well this morning started like any other, only when I booted my PC it immediately rebooted, hmmm strange. Then it starts up does all its usual whirring, next thing I got warning boxes popping up every few minutes. So I get Bob and tell him and he's like SHUT IT DOWN NOW. So my PC is infected! Bob came home at lunch and put the scanner thingy running (my technical knowledge only goes so far). The laptop passed it's test (YAY) but so far the PC has found 4 infectious things, and its not finished yet! (scary huh?)

So this is a reminder to scan your computer regularly, and CHECK the antivirus scran program (or whatever its called) is up to date! We have a firewall and antivirus protection and these damn things got through! So these things aren't 100% proof either but they all help!

I guess it was a good thing though as I got a CHA project completed and another almost done! Good news I guess in the long run.

Hopefully back later with a proper post computer permitting!

June Round-Up

I love seeing these done and Katie always inspires each month with her round-ups! As always I am doing mine a little late, now that I decided to do the layout sketch on the 1st of the month. I recommend these monthly round-ups to anyone! They'd make a great little layout too!

What books and/or magazines did I read this month? Magazines! I read a copy of the new hybrid magazine Scrapbook Dimensions, Scrapbooks Etc (July), Simple Scrapbooks (July/Aug), and Digital Scrapbooking (June/July). I opted not to get July's Creating Keepsakes. I did a quick flick through at the newstand and opted for Simple Scrapbooks. Which I have to say I LOVED this issue! Definately will be reviewing all of the ones I read soon! Books again nothing! Had too much stuff going on to get into anything else really. I want to get back on track, get ahead then get back to the library! Though our library sucks, so maybe Borders.

What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
I'm not even going there! Everything has ended and there is nothing to watch anymore! Although the new series of Ghost Hunters and Miami Ink started. Oh we did watch Ghostrider, which sucked. Some ok effects but lacking in storyline. Hard to find a good movie these days.

What special days did I celebrate and how?
Hmmm, none really in June

What gifts did I give and/or receive? I sent and received a few RAKs from/for scrapbooking friends. Got some design team goodies which always make me smile! Bob gave me his biking keychain so that's sitting on my bike right now. I can't think of anything else in June.

What illnesses or health concerns did I have? Killer kidney infection that knocked me off my feet for days! Took a while to get over that one. Oh and my allergies are flaring up BIGTIME! Sheesh!

What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
We got out riding earlier in June, to Rowher. We had a few meals out with various friends. Um what else... usual stuff really!

What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
no new restaurants. New foods, Bob got some Wasabi peas from Trader Joes - YUK! Haven't really had anything else new I don't think.

What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Nothing that special or unusual but I did purchase a new scrapping tool! I got an Around the Block tagger! Review to come soon! Loving it so far!

What were this month's disappointments?
Getting sick. Really, it just knocked the stuffing right outta me! Other than that, Bob working a ton of hours for the current project. It really took a toll on him (and me, and us). Hoping that this month is

What were my accomplishments this month? I was the guest designer at the Everyday Digital Scrapbooking blog. Love the team there and was so excited and honored to be asked to become a permanent team member! I got a layout accepted for book publication! My newsletter continues to grow and I have to change the delivery of it soon, it's gotten too big for me to handle alone so Bob has set me up with a mailing list which I'll be switching to soon.I have a few other things that I'm working on right now with more details to come soon!

Anything else noteworthy to record?
On a more personal note Bob and I went for biometrics (fingerprinting) for our greencard processing. Another small step, and another long wait ahead.

Creative stuff
6 paper layouts
13 digital layouts
13 cards
4 projects

I've noticed I really don't remember anything very well! lol! Must get better at keeping my journal for all these details!

Today I'm working on the Scrapstreet Card Column for August so if you submitted start stalking your emails! I'm also expecting a design team package full of CHA goodies! More details later!

Layout Sketch - July

Sunday, July 1, 2007

Happy July! Goodness where is this year going? Anyway new month, new sketch. This month I tried to go with something with a patriotic feel, hence the stars, but you can switch them up (I did!). The digital template comes with the title text on a path so you can change that out to your own title. Simple yet effective, and lots of room to add stuff and make it your own! The digital template can be downloaded here

And as promised here is the 8.5" x 11" version of the sketch, download contains BOTH templates so you get two for one!

After all my attempts to do a patriotic page I ended up with this! HA! Totally NOT patriotic but heck the pics were taken on my parents American vacation so that counts right?
