Can you stand another toot?

I won the fathers day card competition at Createmykeepsake! I win these goodies from DCWV!!! Inlcuding some of the rub-ons I've been trying to get a hold of!!! Pretty cool! Lots of good things happening right now!

I'm in charge of the layout Sketch and card forum at CraftyKeepsakes so I'll probably start posting my sketches here too! I have a layout sketch online now and a card sketch to go up tomorrow :)

I was also challenged to post a favorite photo. Now I take a LOT of photo's but had to pick this one of my hubby :)

Hands off ladies!!! He's taken ;)

GDT TOOT! - edited to add

Sunday, May 28, 2006

I'm the guest designer for June at scrappingwithgrace.com! :) Awesome! I entered this layout in their flowers competition, and as the competition is over its probably safe to share:
My lovely River Roo lazing about in the garden (as usual!). DCWV papers, inking, vellum quote + buttons from the target dollar spot! Doodling and penwork with zig millenium pen, and stitching :) I can't wait to see what they have in store for June!

Edited to add:
I am also one of the "featured designers" at http://www.diversitydesigns.net/ with my mothers love layout:

Weird things are afoot!

Saturday, May 27, 2006

For the longest time I thought I was a simple scrapbooker. I don't do fancy schmancy, or shabby chic, then Thursday I did a page that surprised me! Totally not my style, totally not my usual papers, and with lots of inking and distressing... and I loved it! What the heck? I'd share right now but its another competition entry (I do the competitions and challenges to stretch me creatively) and they don't allow sharing till after the competition is over. Its just weird that this layout is so totally not me. Kinda like the "3rd time lucky" layout I did a few months back. Weird that I somehow just dabbled into a grungy kinda look!
On a similar note I got the June Creating Keepsakes magazine yesterday, a magazine I don't usually get (like I said I'm a simple scrapbooks gal), and I love some of the stuff in there! Weird cos I stopped getting it cos of the artsy style layouts and now I find myself doing them! Its just weird! Even on the dog layout yesterday I found myself reaching for the distressing ink!! Its like no layout can escape the inking lately! And because of the CK magazine I got out Ali Edwards book (the first one I haven't gotten round to getting the new one yet) and I'm totally getting on board with the whole concept she has behind scrapbooking (ok moreso than when I first read it). I've been kinda sad lately at some of the old photo's we have (first digital camera etc) which can't be enlarged and retain the picture quality, but y'know what? to quote Ali E, "It is ok!" And I'm just "getting it". The point with this layouts isn't the photo's its the message behind them! Its like some ephiphany weekend where I realise the true meaning behind scrapbooking!
One thing I am also noticing more as I look through older photo's: serious lack of photo's of me! And of US together.
So I have a few goals for June:
  • scan all old photo's into the computer - high res

  • organise photo's with picassa (or some such program)

  • take more photo's of us!

  • take more photo's of everyday life!

  • maybe I feel a photo a day challenge coming on again!

Oh and tomorrow is Sunday Scribblings and I really want to get back into doing these! Hopefully I get time tomorrow to write something...

this layout for a sketch challenge:

lots of stuff going on here! Some pp, stitching, inking, stamping, embossing, distressing, and my craft robo! First time I've done oversize letters (3" letters for heart) and I love it! definately gonna see more of this I think ;)

And this card, one of 3 I did for a competition. Again with the inking (must be a phase I'm going through!). Love the Tim Holtz distressing inks :)

Paper and digital

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

This is a layout I did for a contest at Create My Keepsake. Had to do a layout about your hometown, where you live. I did hidden journalling under the main photo. Used lots of eyelets on this page, and my craft robo!
I have also been doing a little more digital stuff lately too! An example of which is this layout for a competition at Scrapbooker Online. We were just told to Doodle! And as we call Sky that sometimes, it had to be about our little doodles :)

Other than working on a couple of layouts I am still waiting to hear about a design team, should know at the beginning of June. I'm still looking for better storage and organisation for my scraproom - this place is a MESS!

Updated: "Doodles" published in Scrapstreet EzineJuly 2007

The mailman has been!

Monday, May 22, 2006

And I got goodies :) My design team order came from crafty keepsakes!

I got a mix of papers from junkitz, 3 bugs, around the block, lifes journey and I got a new zig pen (mine is dying!) and some embellishments! So guess what I'll be doing this week ;)
I just LOVE this design team for many reasons. Angela (the owner) is so nice and generous! She gives us credit each month to spend rather than sending misc product. This is great for me on so many levels! Not having kids means I don't really have a use for kiddy papers etc so getting to choose my own stuff each month is a real treasure! All the ladies on the DT and forum are really great, such a nice environment. Well off to play with my stuff ;)

All cropped out!

Sunday, May 21, 2006

well not quite! But I am feeling a lack of creativity now for the 6x5 pages for the vacation mini album. I took a break and made some cards for a while, using scraps etc. This is one of them:
I also need to get the friends mini album done. I hope to get my DT order soon from Crafty Keepsakes, I have plans for the 3bugsinarug papers! ;)

Cropping weekend

Saturday, May 20, 2006

Having a weekend online crop at Crafty Keepsakes so getting lots done! Also counting towards challenges at ascrappinfriendsy! Some cool challenges there! Well I am finally in my scraproom again :) Hurrah! Been scrapping a fair bit over the weekend. Altered this binder:-
Part of the GDT at CreatingWithPaper, just doing the inside pages now (6" x 5" so they are going pretty quickly). I won't post all the pages but its basically split into 4 sections, local, attractions, guests, and misc (or yet to be decided! lol!). The binder was originally a target dollar spot recipe binder.

I am moving!

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Back into my scraproom! I have to move out when guests come as it is supposed to be a guest room too. But I also have to scrap so end up scrapping in the lounge. I held off moving back after my parents left as we were supposed to be having the windows replaced, now it seems they are delayed 2 weeks. So I am moving back in. Just taking a water and snack break! Who bought all this stuff?
I ordered my DT stuff yesterday for craftykeepsakes. I love getting stuff in the mail :) I love that we get store credit everymonth too instead of a random kit. This way I don't get stuff I can't/won't use.
Things I want to do soon:
  • re-organise my rubber stamps so I actually USE them!
  • get organised on submissions, fell behind over parents vacation need to get back on track
  • back up all photo's
  • scan in old photo's
  • Re-organise scrapbook "stuff" make it work for me!

I did submit a couple of things but not overly hopeful, we'll see. I hope to get SOMETHING done for the SS call ending tomorrow. I also applied for another design team :) Being on two this month has been such fun! Fingers crossed!

Some cards to share.

On another note: Bob put a new mutli gig hard drive into my pc at the weekend. Just moved everything round and it seems I've lost a few files :( My old scanned cards are gone, and my spotoncreations logo etc. *sigh*

Back on schedule

Monday, May 15, 2006

... continuing with the routine. I have LOTS of idea's brewing (so watch out). Back into the usual routine, with a few changes. I'm back cleaning and doing the daily chores (and hopefully gardening) and scrapping in the afternoons after walking the dogs. Lots to catch up on! I *think* I'm up to date with emails, groups, etc. I have lots I want to get done the next few weeks, and I really plan on being productive, making some new goals, and updating much more! Big plans :)

Bob updated my hard drive this weekend and I have a ginormous amount of space now :) BUT I really need to sort through stuff. Burn photo's to CD and copy to the back up drives. Plus I want to scan in all the older photo's we have from way back (pre-digital *gasp*) so that's a big goal for me.
In other news I am deciding whether or not to carry on with agility with Sky. Its just getting really hot again (90's) and Sky doesn't do heat well. Plus all the trials have beginners running in the afternoons. I might see if we can change class. I dunno its just a HUGE chunk out the week (a whole afternoon counting Rivers walk, 90 mins class, and travelling), plus the $$ saved could be spent on the house and garden.
Creative Comments: Caught up on websites/emails/blogs. Made a layout today for ImagineCreateScrap contest round #5 now to get the altered clipboard done! Fun cos the layout could double as my design team stuff for Crafty Keepsakes. Yesterday I worked on altering one of the target recipe binders into a vacation planner for guests. Work in progress. Working on this with the guest design kit from creatingwithpaper. Speaking of which here are some more projects done with their Luscious Kit:
Altered CD insert. Its for my parents, hold a CD with a collection of photo's from their visit this May :)
Another CD insert, this one has Santa Barbara photo's on it :) Great day out! This is the first time I've done CD inserts and I love it! Great fun!
Card for Grans birthday. Kit papers, with misc ribbon and rub-on.

Layout about my parents vacation. Did this whilst they were gadding about in Vegas for a few days. Love the papers from the luscious line at Creative Imaginations, they lend themselves to lots of themes. Photo was taken at the Conejo Valley Botanical Gardens.

Layout of the day

Yesterday at Scrapjazz! doh! Missed it! One of the perils of being on many scrapbooking sites I guess! Still its fun all the same! Next time turn on EMAIL comments!

Back to regular scheduling

Saturday, May 13, 2006

Dropped my parents at the airport today, the two week vacation is over. We got a few things done during their stay, they popped off to Vegas for a few days, and we all got nicely sunburnt in Santa Barbara whale watching! I've got a few more things to upload of projects made over the last few days, plus I am itching to get creating new layouts etc. Especially the SS call for nov/dec! Love that mag :) I have a few more things I want to work on with the Creating with Paper GDT kit.
I also bought a few things shopping with my Mom, we were going to split the summer DCWV stack till I got home and realised I already bought it! lol! I am on a paper freeze now! No more paper! Except stuff for Design Team projects, or specific manufacturer projects (competitions). Working on scheduling calls etc today, working out what to apply for etc.
I got through to the final round of scrap Fear Factor at Scraptabulous, but didn't win. Currently in the top 10 of another elimination contest, with more projects to make for that. I've missed my scrapping and being in my routine but getting back into it tomorrow :) Other than that I've not really applied for much the last two weeks. Been busy taking photo's (LOTS!), shopping and spending time with my parents.

Might have to bite the bullet and order online!
