Card a day - day 16 & 17

Welcome back to "make a card a day" in June! Ok I can't share my cards with you yet. My camera battery died and I cannot find the damn charger. I keep saying I need to tidy up and never do, this is proof I NEED to tidy up! Seriously... Sad thing is I can't even scan the cards cos I switched out printers (more on that in another post) and I haven't uploaded the drivers cos I can't find the cable to connect the printer to the pc. Noticing a theme here huh? lol! Well I guess I'll just post the sketches for yesterday and today incase you wanted to play along, then update with my cards as soon as I can...

I took yesterday off from creating (except the card), digi designing, exercising, chores etc. I went shopping for clothes. If you remember I've mentioned previously that I HATE shopping for clothes, but it's a necessary evil cos I need new clothes. So I decided to book a day off and go shopping, psyching myself up for it. That definitely helped for sure! I went to the outlet mall cos I wanted new sneakers and workout gear, but they didn't have much I liked, I came away with one pair of sneakers. Then I hit the thrift stores and Ross. Gotta say I LOVE thrift store shopping. I know some people are totally squeamish about it but some of my favorite clothes have come from the thrift stores, AND it's cheap ;) oh and green!

I need to take some pics of the stuff I bought yesterday, I got some great deals, but again camera battery is dead! Anyway I figured I'd share some pics of stuff I bought last thrift store shopping day which was in May. I took Bob along with me and he found me some good deals, love a guy that can spot a bargain! He was the one to spot this skirt suit. Now I don't have much occasion to wear a suit but at $5 I snapped it up, fits perfectly! This was from our city thrift store. (ignore the smudgy mirror!)


Another favorite from that trip was this cargo-skirt. LOVE the pockets. Not 100% sure on the tie up at the waist, I'd probably wear a belt instead. Belly shot, lol! Can't remember exactly how much this skirt was, I think it was $2-$3


The other bargain from goodwill was this button up dress. It's converse and still had the tags on it (yay for spare buttons!). The only thing is it's a little large in the hips and a tad too long for my liking but I can alter it hopefully. This dress was about $5 which for new isn't bad at all!


Thinking about it that belt off the dress would be ok with the skirt huh? Lol! Problem solved there! I also got some fleece sweaters, and t-shirts. I know sweaters in Summer? Well ya gotta buy em when ya can and at $1.99 each they were a bargain! Gotta say that this trip was just as successful and I can't wait to share pics with you!!!

Card a day - day 14 & 15

Welcome back to "make a card a day" in June! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, Saturday was "one of those days". Bob had to work as they have a big deadline due today and so I went into work with him and did some studying as my AFAA home study course arrived! Yay! I managed to sneak in a card late at night, not totally 100% happy with it but it's done...

Sunday we went out for lunch and I wore my new thrift store skirt! Fits pretty well, unlike most of my clothes right now which are hanging off me. Seriously losing 20lbs creates havoc with your wardrobe! Then I got to work with the sketch I chose for Sunday which was this one.

I did use a little creative license and changed things up a little though! Thought this would be great for fathers day, and the three panels suit the "Dad" sentiment well. Good job I got these done as mine have to be mailed off to 'Ol Blighty. Oh and my father in law is doing well, recovering well and has been moved to a regular ward now from Intensive care :) No doubt he can cause some trouble there!

I do find making masculine cards tough, so I tend to leave them pretty plain. The papers on these cards helps to add some interest though. But really what can you add to mens cards without it looking girly?

I got to use up some of my stash supplies so I was happy. The paper alone has been in my stash some years! I mean IP aren't even manufacturing anymore but I do LOVE their papers!

Card a day - day 13

Big news! I completed another of my goals for project 101 in 1001! I finally reached my goal of running 6 miles!!! Yay! I felt totally whacked afterward, and was pretty achy, especially my knees, but I did it. So happy. Now I just need to decide do I carry on increasing the mileage and work towards long distance, or change the routine up?

Warning Rant ahead....

This is one of my favorite sketches but I am just not feeling this card. Why? Well cos I got totally pissed off with the damn white pens. Pens are great for faking stitching, cos sometimes (ok most the time for me) I just can't be bothered with real stitching. This time I wish I'd taken the time. I am FED UP with white pens. I mean you find one that works great (signo & Ranger) but you open them, use them, store them, come back later to find... THEY DON'T FRAKIN WORK PROPERLY. Seriously!!! How hard can it be to make a pen that ALWAYS works. I SEE the ink in there, instead I get a scratchy mess on the card. So I manage to get the card done (eventually) then throw all the white pens in the trash. Had enough, screw it. On the upside I guess that's some cleaning & organizing in my day right?

Anyway... here is today's sketch...

We don't have plans this weekend. Bobs Dad is in hospital recovering from a ruptured bowel so we'll be waiting on news from family as to how he's doing. He seems to be recovering pretty well so far, fingers crossed he has a speedy recovery from surgery.

Card a day - day 12

Welcome back to "make a card a day" in June! Thanks for all the well wishes on the new direction in my life. If nothing comes of it all right now, at least I renewed some of my certifications and can keep myself current and my certificates up to date in future! I have to say I am pretty excited about it all, so that's a good thing :) Anyway here are a couple of cards I made with yesterdays sketch.

Card a day - day 11

Welcome back to "make a card a day" in June! Here is my card with yesterdays sketch. STILL using up the HOTP papers, but the scrap pile is definitely getting smaller! Yay! I like this one, nice and simple, just my style :)

Whilst I was at the scraptable I whipped up another card with my favorite sketch, which I featured Saturday. Just altered it slightly to work with the stamped panel. The stamping I did on Sunday as extra's incase I messed up the panels for Sundays sketch, and for a change I didn't, lol, so I had extra's.

Todays sketch is one I use for the Friday Freebie cards. It's part of my Card DiAGRAM sets (I think set 1?) and I use it alot for quick and easy cards. Change the colors to suit (usually I leave the background white to save on ink) then print, add a flower and voila!

I'm gonna be busy today with digital stuff, hoping to get time to get this sketch done :) Probably use the digital template just to make things easier! Have a great Thursday, soon be the weekend!!!!

Card a day - day 10 & News

Most of you will know that lately I've been feeling a little BLAH with the whole scrapbooking industry, both digital and paper. I've had some opportunities come up over the last few years that I am so thankful for but it's one of those times in my life where my focus is changing. Magazines, manufacturers, sites and stores are closing right, left and center and the industry is really suffering. I toyed with the idea of opening my own card site (and still may I dunno, lol) but lately my interests have been taking a different direction, that is leading me back to this...

Some of you may know that when we lived in England I was a personal trainer and fitness instructor. At my peak I taught 25+ classes a week, teaching classes (aerobics, step, aqua, circuits etc) and PT clients. Now, all this was almost 10 years ago and I was younger and fitter but in December I decided to embark on a little training program to get back in shape THEN decide if I wanted to pursue it as a career again. I've since lost almost 20 lbs, I'm running 3x a week, lifting weights, I've got some ab definition back and have decided that I am going to at least retrain then decide if it's something I want to pursue. At least then I'll have the option. I doubt I'll be back to 25 classes a week, that was brutal, and in my late 30's probably not a great idea on the old bod'.

Now this means that over the next month or two I'll be re certifying in CPR/AED (course on 27th June) and a reinstatement package for my AFAA qualifications are in the mail as I write. So happy to discover that all I need to do is a home study exam to get my certifications renewed :) I have expired Personal Training, step and group fitness certificates and the one exam covers all 3 certificates! Yay! It is costing almost $300 but far better than taking all the courses from scratch again!

So what does this mean for my creative stuff and this blog? Well there will probably be more personal posts on the blog, more stuff about my fitness journey (which I've touched on a little already in the 101 in 1001 project), and obviously crafty stuff. Yep new card sketches will be back in July :) I did however decide to resign from the UHU gluers, and I'll be closing my A Cherry On Top Digital Store at the end of the month (sale on right now, check it out!). Basically I'm downsizing my teams and responsibilities so I can focus on the positions I have/want (right now that's Scrapbooking.com, Boxer and Digital Artist Magazine) and figure out what I want to do in the fitness world :) So bear with me over the next few months while I sort my life out, lol!

Meanwhile it's still "make a card a day" in June! I made this card yesterday. One of the problems with this kind of project is sometimes the sketch that day just doesn't mesh with how you are feeling or the products you want to use. I am DETERMINED to use up these HOTP scraps this month if it kills me, and they didn't really go with this sketch, but I MADE the suckers work. Not really sold on the card, but it goes into the cards for heroes pile :)

Card a day - day 9

Welcome back to "make a card a day" in June! I am just having a BLAST using these HOTP papers. You know I really think it's the hot summer colors, but they just brighten my mood no end! Plus I seem to gravitate to these shades obviously as I have TONS of embellishments that match the papers, lol. Here is my card with yesterdays sketch :)

I used an acrylic stamp for the curved text, took some cleaning off the stamp and rearranging on the block but I think it looks ok :) I also switched the sketch around a bit, mostly because I couldn't remember which side the embellishment was ok and didn't have the sketch in front of me, lol. I am REALLY hoping to get some time today to tidy up in my scraproom, fingers crossed for me? lol!
